Perfect World (NASDAQ:PWRD) recently announced the open beta testing of its free to play monster hunting MMORPG, RaiderZ.

''After a successful closed beta testing phase, with 2,756,371 quests, 527,086 monsters killed, 70,896 characters created and a combined playing time of around 40 years, the game is now available for public download. [1] The company claims to have received a positive response from players and critics alike in the closed beta testing. The open beta offers additional content, new regions, instances, monsters and rewards that promise an action-packed, exhilarating experience.

Perfect World has witnessed a continuous decline in its number of active paying customers in China since 2009 as it has been facing rising threats from players such as NetEase, Tencent, Shanda Interactive, Giant Interactive, and ChangYou. While the overall Chinese online gaming market has grown in terms of users, Perfect World’s market share has dropped over the years. The company has not had a big title launch in China in the past two years.

However, it claims to have a deep and diverse pipeline of upcoming games in the near future. Apart from a few web-based games, Perfect World has the much awaited Swordsman online and Neverwinter in its pipeline for launch next year. According to Perfect World, MMORPGs continue to capture the largest market share (over 60%) in China and are expected to continue doing so for the next few years.

Though Perfect World’s active paying customers might decline significantly this year, we believe the rate of decline will slow down and stabilize by the end of our forecast period as the company continues to launch new games as well as expansion packs for existing games in the coming years.''
