Grand Epic Online is a browser-based MMORPG featuring stories inspired by Chinese fairy tales.

Grand Epic bases its story on the strife between Chiyou and the Yellow Emperor who later becomes the ancestors of Chinese. The real legend goes to the ending that Chiyou is defeated, while the Yan Emperor starts a new history. Nevertheless, the legend in the game will take you to nowhere because the legend contributes little to the progression of the game. In addition to the richness of Chinese culture, Grand Epic Online also introduces multiple unprecedented features to enhance gameplay, such as quest auto-navigation, pet raising and mounting system, polymorphic transformation and etc. Instead of the traditional turn-based combat mode found in many other browser-based MMORPG, Grand Epic Online incorporates a highly realistic and powerful real-time combat mode.

Many features of Grand Epic have been highlighted as unprecedented, however, few of these features are attractive to players. For example, a 2.5D graphic is considered a revolution in browser games. But to me, a 2.5D graphic is not something worth boasting. It is just a pseudo 3D that only magnifies the limited ability on graphic of the developer.

Pets and monsters in the game are cute and useful. Pets can help in the battles and contribute a lot to your upgrades. What’s more, they can be reared to specialize in certain fights. Monsters are something annoying in other games, but never in Grand Epic. You will be eager to discover a monster and conquer it.
